Cerium(III)stearate is a degradable, ionic, organometallic compound that has been used as a conditioning agent in polyvinyl chloride film. Cerium(III)stearate has shown to be an excellent activator for radiation, which may be due to its high activation energy. This compound is also stable in the presence of chloride and polymer films. Cerium(III)stearate can be used as an additive in fatty acid mixtures for the purpose of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Cerium(III)stearate has been shown to have particle properties that are different from those of cerium oxide or cerium nitrate.
