N-[2-(1H-Imidazol-5-yl)ethyl]prop-2-enamide is a histamine receptor agonist that has been shown to have affinity for the histamine H1 receptor. N-[2-(1H-Imidazol-5-yl)ethyl]prop-2-enamide can be immobilized on a solid support, such as beads or chips, and then used in molecular imprinting. It also has shown to be an effective inhibitor of chloride ion transport. In addition, this molecule has hydrophilic properties and is resistant to degradation by enzymes. The heteroaromatic ring present in this molecule is responsible for its hydrophilicity and isoelectric point.
