Product Information

Name:
(2S,3S)-2-Amino-3-hydroxy-4-methylpentanoic acid
Description:

(2S,3S)-2-Amino-3-hydroxy-4-methylpentanoic acid is an amino acid with the chemical formula HOOCCH(NH)COOH. It is a nonessential amino acid that is synthesized in vivo by serine protease and hydrochloric acid. This amino acid is an analog of (2R,3R)-2-amino-3-hydroxypropanoic acid and has been found to be the major biosynthetic precursor of the 2,5-dihydroxypentanoic acid class of secondary metabolites in streptomycetes. (2S,3S)-2-Amino-3-hydroxy-4-methylpentanoic acid is also used in asymmetric synthesis as a chiral building block for the synthesis of natural products such as borohydride reductase inhibitors and quinolone derivatives. In vitro synthesis can be performed
