Description:

2-Dodecanol is an industrial chemical that has been shown to have anticancer activity. It is also used as a control agent in analytical chemistry, for the preparation of urine samples, and as a reagent in industrial preparations. 2-Dodecanol reacts with hydroxyl groups on the surface of plastics to form hydroperoxides and can be found in the environment as a result of release from plastics. It is also used as a radical scavenger that has been shown to have radical scavenging activities. 2-Dodecanol has been shown to reduce the ruthenium complex's redox potential, which may be due to its ability to act as an electron sink.
2-Dodecanol has been shown to be capable of reacting with fatty acids and forming esters or ethers, depending on the acidity of the reaction medium.
