Description:

Octadecyl Thioglycolate is a synthetic, carbonyl-containing compound that is used as a stabilizer in polymer films. It can be used to stabilize polymers such as polycarbonates and polyesters. Octadecyl Thioglycolate is a cationic surfactant that binds to metal surfaces, such as stainless steel, copper and aluminum. It also has the ability to lower the surface tension of water. Octadecyl Thioglycolate contains a hydroxyl group, which can react with chloride ions to form oxychloride ions, as well as an alkoxy radical that can form peroxides. This molecule also has two double bonds in its carbon chain, which are susceptible to polymerization initiation.
