Name:
4-Ethoxy-1-fluoro-2-nitrobenzene
Synonyms:
  • Phenetole, 4-fluoro-3-nitro-
  • Benzene, 4-ethoxy-1-fluoro-2-nitro-

Description:

4-Ethoxy-1-fluoro-2-nitrobenzene (EFNB) is a nitrobenzene derivative that inhibits the enzyme exchanger, which is responsible for the transport of nutrients such as ions and sugars into cells. EFNB has shown to be an efficient inhibitor of the exchanger at low concentrations. EFNB is also able to inhibit cell proliferation in a sequence study. EFNB has been shown to be active against many bacteria, including Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhimurium, Listeria monocytogenes, and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. EFNB is also active against human erythrocytes and tumor cells.
