Product Information
9-Butylphenanthrene is a synthetic aromatic hydrocarbon that is used as a diagnostic reagent. It interacts with the hexane phase of a gas chromatograph to produce a sharp peak in the chromatogram. This compound can be identified by its fluorescence spectrum, which peaks at 514 nm and has an emission maximum of 520 nm. 9-Butylphenanthrene has been shown to catalyze the oxidation of naphthalene to form benzoquinones or quinones and can be used for monitoring the reaction rate. 9-Butylphenanthrene also has been shown to have polynuclear interactions with other aromatic hydrocarbons, such as 2,6-dinitrophenol and 3,5-dimethylpyrazole.
