Product Information
- 2-(2-Oxo-2-Phenylethyl)Benzonitrile
2-(2-Cyanophenyl)acetophenone is a cyclic molecule that can be used in the synthesis of other compounds. It has been shown to react with potassium and form the potassium salt of 2-cyanophenylacetic acid, which can then be converted into other compounds. This molecule also reacts with cyanide ion, forming an adduct. The ketonic group will react with quinoline to form a cyclohexanone adduct, or with acetylacetone to form an amide. In addition, it can act as an intermediate in the formation of a benzylidene derivative.
