Product Information
4,4'-(1,3,4-Oxadiazole-2,5-diyl)diphenol (ODA) is a monomer with a benzene ring and an oxadiazole ring. It has been synthesized by the reaction of 4-hydroxybenzonitrile (HOBN), methyl groups, and isophorone at high temperature in the presence of oxygen. ODA has been shown to exhibit ferroelectric properties. The diffraction pattern of ODA recorded by optical microscopy was found to be consistent with the simulated diffraction patterns for this material. The experimental results showed that ODAs have a lower melting point than their dimethylated counterparts due to the absence of methyl groups on the phenyl rings.
