Product Information
Acetaminophen is a pain reliever and fever reducer. It is the active ingredient in many over-the-counter (OTC) and prescription medications, such as Tylenol. Acetaminophen is used to treat mild to moderate pain, such as headaches, muscle aches, toothaches, menstrual cramps and arthritis. Acetaminophen may also be used to reduce fever. Acetaminophen has been shown to have a plasma concentration that peaks at one hour after ingestion. The analgesic effect of acetaminophen may last for up to two hours. Acetaminophen can cause liver damage if taken in high doses or on a regular basis for more than five days; however, it does not appear to pose any risk when taken occasionally for short periods of time.
