2-Cbz-6-bromo-3,4-dihydro-1H-isoquinoline-1-carboxylic acid is a potassium channel inhibitor that hyperpolarizes muscle cells. It inhibits the opening of potassium channels in cell membranes and thus prevents the flow of potassium ions across the membrane. 2-Cbz-6-bromo-3,4-dihydro-1H-isoquinoline-1 carboxylic acid has been shown to inhibit bladder contractions in rats and to be an effective muscle relaxant. This drug also has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of ATPase activity in rat skeletal muscle.
