Product Information
6-Methoxybenzo[C]isoxazol-3(1H)-one is a molecule that has been identified in the roots of sativum l. (broad bean) and is a natural product of the plant's metabolism. It has been found to be an allelochemical with microbially inhibitory activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including E. coli and S. aureus, as well as fungi such as C. albicans, A. niger, and M. grisea. Further research has shown that 6-methoxybenzo[C]isoxazol-3(1H)-one is metabolized by soil microorganisms into diboa and dimerized to form 2,6-dimethoxybenzo[C]isoxazole. This product can be detected using gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS).
