Product Information
3-Aminofuran-2-carboxylic acid is a natural growth factor that interacts with the epidermal growth factor receptor. It has been shown to be effective in treating cancer, and isomers of 3-aminofuran-2-carboxylic acid have been shown to inhibit bacterial growth. Hexamethylenetetramine has been shown to be a proteolytic enzyme that can cleave 3-aminofuran-2-carboxylic acid, which may lead to its degradation by other enzymes. Molecular modeling studies show that hexamethylenetetramine binds to the active site of the enzyme, preventing it from binding to 3-aminofuran-2-carboxylic acid. This may also be due to the fact that 3 aminofuran 2 carboxylic acid requires water for activation, while hexamethylenetetramine does not.
