Name:
1-(2,6,6-Trimethylcyclohex-1-en-1-yl)but-2-en-1-one
Description:

1-(2,6,6-Trimethylcyclohex-1-en-1-yl)but-2-en-1-one (TMBEH) is a hydroxy group that is used as an additive in tobacco and medicines. It is a precursor to the aromatic compound methyl anthranilate, which has been shown to have antiinflammatory properties. TMBEH is also used as a flavorant in food and beverages and can be found in products such as colas, ice cream, chewing gum, and candy. TMBEH can be produced by irradiation of 2,6,6-trimethylcyclohexanone with ultraviolet light or by reacting it with metal hydroxides or alkali metals in an organic solvent.
