Product Information
- 8-Nonenoic acid, ethyl ester
- Ethyl 8-Nonenoate
Ethyl non-8-enoate is a synthetic compound that is used in cancer therapy. It is a retinoid, which are compounds that are structurally related to vitamin A. Ethyl non-8-enoate has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells by binding to lysine residues, which are important for the regulation of gene transcription. This binding inhibits the activity of enzymes such as histone lysine methyltransferase and histone deacetylase, leading to changes in gene expression. Ethyl non-8-enoate has also been shown to have antiestrogenic properties, which may be due to its ability to affect estrogen receptor beta (ERβ). The terminal half-life of ethyl non-8-enoate in plasma samples was found to be between 3 and 5 hours.
