1-Chloro-2,3-dihydro-1H-indene is a kinetic inhibitor. It has been shown to bind to the enzyme quinoline synthesis and to be reactive towards chloride ions. 1-Chloro-2,3-dihydro-1H-indene is used as an intermediate in the production of styrene. This monomer has high values for constant rate kinetics and exhibits a high affinity for chloride ions, which makes it a good candidate for use in polymerization reactions. The chlorine atom can be substituted with other atoms or groups, such as ethyl groups, halides, or transfer reactions. These derivatives are also known as quinoline derivatives.
