Product Information

Name:
1-(4-Methylbenzyl)piperidine
Description:

1-(4-Methylbenzyl)piperidine (1-MBP) is a pyrimidine derivative that can be used as an anti-inflammatory agent. It has been shown to have a beneficial effect on cardiovascular disorders, including hypertension and arrhythmia. 1-MBP is synthesized in two steps: first, allyl bromide reacts with 4-methylbenzyl chloride to form the intermediate allyl ligand; then, the allyl ligand reacts with 2-chloropyrimidine and divinyl benzene to produce 1-MBP. The nmr spectra of 1-MBP displays signals for hydrogen bonds between the fluorine atoms and the allyl ligand. Additionally, 1-MBP is a solid that melts at 239°C. Furthermore, it has been shown that 1-MBP can modulate inflammatory responses by inhibiting production of proinflammatory cytokines such as interleukin 6 (IL6).
