Product Information
Methyl isonicotinimidate is an activated methylated form of nicotinamide. It is a benzyl-protected amide and has been found to be an effective inhibitor of the enzyme dehydrogenase, which is essential for the biosynthesis of fatty acids. Methyl isonicotinimidate has also been shown to inhibit bacterial growth by binding to the active site of the enzyme amide amidohydrolase, thereby preventing its conversion of aldehydes into fatty acid synthesis precursors. The drug's effectiveness against bacteria may be due to its ability to act as a bioisostere, which means that it can mimic certain functional groups in the target molecule, or it can act as an imidoester and react with nucleophiles in the target molecule.
Methyl isonicotinimidate has been shown to inhibit many types of bacteria including Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Salmone
