Di-o-tolyl-phosphate-d14 (DOP) is a phosphorodichloridate that is used in the synthesis of polymers. DOP is used as an agent for prediabetes, diabetes, and metabolic disorders. This drug has a terminal half-life of about 18 hours in humans. DOP has been shown to increase insulin sensitivity and decrease glucose levels in rats and mice. The effects on humans are unknown, but it may be due to its ability to regulate the release of insulin from pancreatic beta cells.
