Description:
1,3-Dicyclohexylbarbituric acid (1,3-DCBA) is a cytotoxic drug that binds to DNA and inhibits protein synthesis. It has been shown to be effective against human carcinoma cells in vitro and in vivo. 1,3-DCBA is a highly potent antineoplastic agent that is used for the treatment of certain types of cancer. The drug has optical properties that can be observed by spectroscopy techniques such as fluorescence or microscopy. It also has hydrophobic properties and can be transferred through membranes by passive diffusion. 1,3-DCBA is not soluble in water but it does dissolve well in organic solvents such as acetone or chloroform.
