Description:
Cis-6-Nonen-1-ol is a cis, trans unsaturated fatty acid that is found in cantaloupe and can be extracted from this fruit. It has been shown to have bactericidal activity against Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis. Cis-6-Nonen-1-ol is synthesized by the addition of a hydroxy group to the 1 position of octadecene, followed by reduction at the 2 position.
Cis-6-Nonen-1-ol can also be found in diethyl succinate and malic acid, which are ester compounds. In acetaldehyde, it appears as an alicyclic compound.
