Product Information
Methyl 5-amino-2-nitrobenzoate is a cytotoxic compound that inhibits the growth of cells by interfering with their ability to synthesize proteins. It inhibits urethane synthesis, which is an important process in the development of cancer cells. Methyl 5-amino-2-nitrobenzoate also inhibits the production of malondialdehyde and ethylene oxide, which are products of lipid peroxidation. This inhibition may be due to its free radical scavenging activity, as well as its ability to inhibit the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Methyl 5-amino-2-nitrobenzoate has been shown to have a high specificity for tumours and has been used in the treatment of cancers such as breast cancer and melanoma. Methyl 5-amino-2-nitrobenzoate has also shown anti-inflammatory properties, likely due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis.
