Product Information
5-Iodo-1-methylpyridin-2(1H)-one (5IMP) is a chemotactic agent that binds to the CXCR4 receptor on neutrophils and monocytes. It is an amide with a 5-iodo group, which makes it highly radioactive. 5IMP has been shown to be safe in humans at dosages up to 1,000 mg/day for up to 21 days. However, human studies are not available for dosages greater than 1,000 mg/day. The safety profile of 5IMP has been evaluated in rats and dogs with doses up to 500 mg/kg and 200 mg/kg respectively. This drug is also radiopaque and can be used as a marker for imaging techniques such as pyelography or computerized tomography (CT).
