Product Information

Name:
1,2-Didodecanoyl-3-tetradecanoyl-rac-glycerol
Description:

1,2-Didodecanoyl-3-tetradecanoyl-rac-glycerol is a potential biomarker for lung disease. It is a major component of the phospholipid fraction of human lung surfactant. The synthesis and secretion of this lipid is increased in conditions such as inflammation and fibrosis. In healthy controls, this lipid was not detectable in the serum but was present in the feces. This lipid has been shown to be associated with intestinal disorders, including inflammatory bowel disease and celiac disease. It has also been shown to have transmembrane conductance properties that are useful in detecting pancreatic cancer cells, as well as healthy cells.
