Product Information
3-Hydroxy benzopyrene-d11β-D-glucuronide is a metabolite that is used as an electron donor in the synthesis of osseous matrix. It has been shown to induce osteoblastic activity, resulting in calcification and bone formation. 3-Hydroxy benzopyrene-d11β-D-glucuronide is also mutagenic, inducing mutations in DNA by acting as an electron acceptor for reduction of oxygen. 3-Hydoxy benzopyrene-d11β-D-glucuronide can be detected in electron micrographs of matrix from femoral bones. The presence of this metabolite can also be seen using electron microscopy on bile samples and mitochondria from periosteal cells.
