- Formamide, N-(2,4-dimethylphenyl)-
N-(2,4-Dimethylphenyl)formamide is a chemical that has been used as an analytical reagent in the determination of acidic compounds. It has been shown to inhibit amitraz and cymiazole, which are pesticides that are used for the control of bees and mites. N-(2,4-Dimethylphenyl)formamide can be prepared by reacting 2,4-dimethylbenzaldehyde with formic acid in the presence of hydrochloric acid. The inhibition activity of this compound may be due to its ability to act as a buffer in the assay mixture or to alter the pH of the solution. This chemical has also been shown to affect Ca2+ concentration in extracellular fluid and is active against Sprague-Dawley rats.
