2-Amino-6-chloro-1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalene is an analog of dopamine that has been shown to inhibit the uptake of serotonin in animals. It has also been shown to inhibit the uptake of dopamine and norepinephrine by blocking their transport into the presynaptic neuron. 2-Amino-6-chloro-1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalene was found to be a potent inhibitor of the enzyme hydroxylase in rats. This drug may have potential as a marker for Parkinson's Disease because it can cause neurotoxicity by inhibiting monoamine oxidase.
