Product Information
Benzoic acid, 3-phenoxy-, ethyl ester is an organic compound that can be synthesized by the reduction of deltamethrin or cyhalothrin with a reducing agent such as hydrogen in the presence of an acid. This reaction yields benzoic acid and the corresponding alcohol. The benzoic acid can then be converted to the desired product by reacting it with a strong base such as sodium methoxide. Benzoic acid, 3-phenoxy-, ethyl ester has been shown to reversibly undergo voltammetric oxidation at potentials less than 0.6 V vs. Ag/AgCl reference electrode in acetonitrile solution. It also has been shown to have anion properties because it is easily reduced to its corresponding carboxylic acid and phenol moiety by hydroxide ions or alkali metals in water solution.
