Product Information
- Cobalt(2+) Bromide Hydrate (1:2:6)
Cobalt(II) bromide hydrate is an inorganic compound that is used as a catalyst for organic reactions. It has been shown to be a strong reductant and an excellent catalyst for many reactions, such as the conversion of dioxime to hydrochloric acid. It also has been shown to increase the rate of copper-catalyzed hydrogenation reactions. This property is due to the role of cobalt in forming a complex with copper, which allows it to act as a Lewis acid. Cobalt(II) bromide hydrate can be prepared by mixing cobalt chloride and hydrobromic acid.
