Description:

Protocatechuic acid is a phenolic compound with antioxidant properties. It is found in many plants, including wheat leaves and berries of the genus Vaccinium. Protocatechuic acid has been shown to interact with the skeleton of proteins and hydroxyl groups on other molecules. This interaction can lead to a number of chemical reactions, such as oxidation or decarboxylation. Protocatechuic acid has been studied extensively for its enzyme form and enzyme activities. Protocatechuic acid is an organic acid that is converted into caffeic acids by conjugation with a molecule of water.
