Description:
Ent-3-oxokaurane-16,17-diol is a natural product that has been isolated from the roots of Lathyroides verna. It inhibits the growth of cancer cells by binding to DNA and preventing transcription and replication. Ent-3-oxokaurane-16,17-diol also has significant cytotoxicity against organisms such as Escherichia coli and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The mechanism of action is not yet known, but it may be due to the substitution effect on the ent-kaurane skeleton.
