9-(3-Bromophenyl)carbazole is a dipyridyl compound that is used to generate the 9,9'-dibromo-9,9'-diacetoxybiphenyl from bromine and phenol. The dipyridyl group in this compound enables it to be used as an efficient catalyst for cross-coupling reactions. It has been shown to have high quantum efficiency, which can be increased by using multilayer films of calcium carbonate. 9-(3-Bromophenyl)carbazole has also been shown to have good transport properties and can be used in devices with electron injection.
