Product Information
2-Chloro-5-(1-methyl-2-pyrrolidinyl)pyridine (CMP) is a modulator of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. It has been shown to inhibit the inflammatory response in mice, as well as insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes in rats. CMP binds to the α7 subunit of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor, which is expressed in mammalian cells including skin keratinocytes, myoblasts, and brain neurons. This binding leads to an increase in cAMP levels and subsequent activation of protein kinase A. This activation leads to a decrease in tumor size or number of tumors in skin cancer models or insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes models. The binding affinity of CMP for other nicotinic acetylcholine receptor subunits has not been determined yet.
