Description:
Paliperidone is a dopamine antagonist and has been used for the treatment of schizophrenia. It is also an antipsychotic agent that has been shown to reduce psychotic symptoms, improve cognition, and alleviate negative symptoms of schizophrenia. Paliperidone is a prodrug that is hydrolyzed in vivo to its active form, which acts as a selective D2 receptor antagonist. Paliperidone has been found to be effective in reducing the risk of relapse at 24 weeks.
