Product Information
- 2-(2′-Formyl-4′-nitrophenoxy)caproic acid
- Hexanoic Acid, 2-(2-Formyl-4-Nitrophenoxy)-
2-(2'-Formyl-4'-nitrophenoxy)caproic Acid is a byproduct of caproic acid that can be used as a catalyst in the nitration of hexanoic acid to produce 2-(2'-hydroxy-4'-nitrophenoxy)caproic acid. The reaction solution is then heated to release the product, which can then be purified by crystallization. This chemical intermediate can be used for the production of dronedarone and other medicaments. The reaction yield for this compound is high. It reacts with salicylic aldehyde to form an isomer, which can also be hydrolyzed.
