Product Information
Naproxen etemesil is a prodrug of naproxen. It is used to treat inflammation, pain, and fever. Naproxen etemesil has been shown to be effective in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and ulcerative colitis (UC), but not Crohn's disease. Naproxen etemesil has been shown to be safe and tolerable at doses of 400 mg per day, but may lead to increased risk of cardiovascular events at higher doses. The drug also has a low body mass index (BMI) safety profile, which can make it an appropriate treatment for patients with a BMI below 30. Naproxen etemesil is the first prodrug of naproxen that can be given by continuous pump infusion, which may improve prognosis in patients with cancer or inflammatory diseases.
