Product Information
Tetrabromo-2-(dimethylamino)-1H-benzimidazole (TBAB) is a novel hdac inhibitor that has been shown to be effective in inhibiting the growth of cancer cells. TBAB binds to the active site of Hdac, preventing the enzyme from phosphorylating histone tails. This inhibits gene expression and consequently cell proliferation. TBAB also inhibits the growth of enteroendocrine cells and alters the expression of genes involved in lipid metabolism, as well as other genes involved in cellular processes. TBAB is an acrylonitrile derivative with a hydrocarbon group attached to its nitrogen atom. It can be synthesized by a variety of methods, including condensation reactions with acid catalysts or through dehydrating agents such as metal carbonates and styrene. TBAB can also be synthesized by an isomerization reaction between two monomers: 2-chloro-4,5,6,7
