Product Information
Lusutrombopag is a drug that is used for the treatment of chronic liver disease. It belongs to the group of drugs that are inhibitors of P-glycoprotein (Pgp) and are able to increase platelet count in people with chronic liver disease. Lusutrombopag has been shown to be effective in patients with thrombocytopenia, although its long-term efficacy is unknown due to the lack of clinical trials. Lusutrombopag binds to Pgp, which prevents it from transporting substrates such as luteinizing hormone receptor agonists, cytostatics, and immunosuppressants out of cells. This binding leads to increased concentrations of these substances in the blood, which can lead to toxicity. Lusutrombopag has not been associated with any significant toxicity in studies involving humans.
