2,5-Bis(2-ethylhexyl)-3,6-di(2-thienyl)-2,5-dihydropyrrolo[3,4-c]pyrrole-1,4-dione (BTBP) is a fluorescent molecule that can be used in organic solar cells. The corresponding devices show good efficiency and thermal stability. BTBP emits light at the wavelength of 515 nm when it is excited by sunlight or ultraviolet light. The fluorescence quantum yield of BTBP is high and its emission is strong enough to be detected by optical instruments. BTBP also has high solubility in chloroform solution and can be easily removed from the solution after oxidation with chloroform.
