Product Information
Timolol is a beta-adrenergic blocker that is used to treat glaucoma and other eye conditions by reducing intraocular pressure. Timolol related compound C (TRC) is a beta-adrenergic receptor antagonist that is being investigated for its ability to reduce intraocular pressure. TRC has been shown to be effective in animal models of glaucoma. In one study, the drug was administered at concentrations of 0.1 mg/mL or 1 mg/mL with dorzolamide hydrochloride, a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor, and brimonidine, an alpha-2 adrenergic agonist. The concentration-time curve showed that the drugs were well tolerated and produced no adverse effects on ocular tissue. These results suggest that TRC may be a possible treatment for glaucoma patients who are resistant to current therapies such as timolol or beta-blockers.
