Olumacostat glasaretil is a non-inflammatory, acyl chain, and belongs to the class of metformin. It is a structural formula of fatty acid. Olumacostat glasaretil has been shown to decrease the production of insulin-like growth factor (IGF) in cell-based assays. It also inhibits the production of sebum and decreases skin dryness in animal models. The mechanism for these effects may be related to its ability to inhibit fatty acid metabolism in propionibacterium.
