Product Information
4-Fluoro-3-iodobenzamide is a fluorine containing bimodal molecule that has been evaluated in patients with cancer. The radiolabeled form of 4-fluoro-3-iodobenzamide, FIB, has been used as a molecular imaging agent to detect and evaluate the molecular localization of prostate cancer cells. This compound also has been evaluated as a radiotracer for positron emission tomography (PET) scans. In PET scans, the radiotracer is injected into the bloodstream and taken up by the target tissue where it accumulates. The compound is then detected using a PET scanner equipped with a gamma camera. The radiotracer emits positrons which are annihilated by electrons from nearby atoms, releasing two 511 keV gamma photons in opposite directions. These photons are detected by the camera which can be used to produce 3D images that allow doctors to see how well the therapy is working. 4-Fluoro
