Product Information
3-Bromo-2-nitrobenzonitrile is a pyridinium molecule that has been shown to show anti-cancer activity against lymphoblastic leukemia cells. It has also been shown to be effective in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. 3-Bromo-2-nitrobenzonitrile has been shown to inhibit glycosylases, which are enzymes that remove glycosidic bonds from macromolecules. The molecular design of this drug is hydrophobic and it can bind to regions on proteins that are rich in hydrophobic amino acids, such as the active site of glycosylases. 3-Bromo-2-nitrobenzonitrile binds to these sites by deforming the protein structure around the hydrophobic cavity.
