Description:

Octahydrocurcumin is a derivative of curcumin and is a potent inhibitor of melanogenesis, which can be used in the treatment of skin disorders. It has also been shown to inhibit the proliferation of human squamous carcinoma cells (HL-60) by inhibiting the growth and spread of cancer cells. The apoptosis pathway is activated when Octahydrocurcumin binds to DNA and inhibits protein synthesis. Octahydrocurcumin may have potential as a natural compound for wastewater treatment because it has been shown to react with heavy metals such as lead, mercury, and cadmium, as well as other pollutants such as hexavalent chromium.
