Description:
5,7-Dibromo-1H-indole (DBI) is a potential anticancer compound that has been shown to be active against colon cancer cells. The synthesis of DBI involves the use of isatin as an acid catalyst and long-term exposure to light. This compound has been shown to induce death in cancer cell lines by inhibiting DNA synthesis and inducing apoptosis. It has also been shown to inhibit the growth of colon cancer cells in culture. DBI was synthesized using a cyclic voltammetry technique on an optical microscope.
