6-Formyl-uracil monohydrate
Synonyms:
  • 2,6-Dioxo-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyrimidine-4-carbaldehyde hydrate (1:1)
  • 4-Pyrimidinecarboxaldehyde, 1,2,3,6-tetrahydro-2,6-dioxo-, hydrate (1:1)
  • 2,6-Dioxo-1,2,3,6-Tetrahydropyrimidine-4-Carbaldehyde Hydrate
Description:

6-Formyl-uracil monohydrate (6FUMP) is a molecule that contains uridine. It has been shown to have anti-cancer properties, with the ability to inhibit phosphorylation and induce apoptosis in cancer cells. 6FUMP binds to the nitrogen atoms of purines, which may be responsible for its ability to inhibit phosphorylation. The hydrochloric acid in 6FUMP also helps to dissolve it and make it more soluble. In addition, this molecule can act as a linker between molecules and is soluble in both water and organic solvents.
