Product Information
Benzyl Orange is a red dye used in pharmaceutical preparations. It has a constant viscosity and is soluble in water. The chromatographic method for determining the concentration of benzyl orange is based on the rate of elution from a column of filter paper impregnated with sodium chloride, which is then equilibrated with an ethylene diamine solution. Pharmaceutical dosage forms include tablets, capsules, suppositories, and injections. Benzyl Orange is also used as a polymer matrix for drugs such as celiprolol hydrochloride (trade name: Tybamate). The drug substance is dissolved in a liquid solvent (e.g., water) and applied to the polymer film that has been coated with potassium phosphate ions; this creates a polymeric matrix containing the drug substance. Hydrogen bonds form between the carboxylic acid groups of the polymer matrix and the drug substance, resulting in immobilization and increased stability of the drug substance.br>br>
