Product Information
1-(2-Bromo-ethyl)-2-methoxy-benzene is a potent and selective antagonist of the histamine H1 receptor. It has been shown to have antagonistic properties in the central nervous system, where it blocks the action of acetylcholine on neurons, and at peripheral sites, where it blocks the release of histamine from mast cells. 1-(2-Bromo-ethyl)-2-methoxy-benzene has also been shown to be a potent antagonist of the serotonin 5HT3 receptor. The discovery and optimization of this compound was based on structural modification of a 6-methoxy-1-tetralone scaffold, which led to a number of analogues with improved potency and selectivity. Clinical trials are ongoing in order to investigate its possible use as an antiemetic agent in chemotherapy patients.
