ethyl 3-aminopyrazine-2-carboxylate
Synonyms:
  • 2-Pyrazinecarboxylic Acid, 3-Amino-, Ethyl Ester
Description:

Ethyl 3-aminopyrazine-2-carboxylate is an antiviral agent that has been shown to have activity against a variety of viruses, including HIV, influenza A virus, herpes simplex virus type 1, and hepatitis B virus. This drug inhibits the replication of the virus by targeting nonstructural protein nucleocapsid (N) and interfering with the process of transcription and replication. Ethyl 3-aminopyrazine-2-carboxylate is orally bioavailable and has been shown to inhibit viral replication in cell culture. This drug is an analog for antipyrine (a nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug) that does not cause gastrointestinal irritation.
