Product Information

Name:
4-Methoxyquinoline-2-carbonitrile
Description:

4-Methoxyquinoline-2-carbonitrile (4MQC) is an isoquinoline molecule that contains a methoxy group at the 4 position of the quinoline ring. This compound undergoes hydration and can form n-oxides, which are photochemically active. The quinoline ring reacts with pyridine to form methoxyisoquinoline, which can also undergo photoreactions. These reactions lead to photoisomers and photoisomerization. The pyridine ring can be deoxygenated by hydrogenation or by heating in an inert atmosphere. Quinolines are protic compounds, but 4MQC is aprotic because it does not contain a lone pair on the nitrogen atom.
